The majority share of RP Logistics Oy becomes part of the Olmar Finland group.

In Kotka, Finland, 21 December 2023

The logistics group Olmar Finland Oy has acquired the majority of the shares of RP Logistics Oy (www.rpgroup.fi). RP Cap Oy (Petri Lempiäinen) has sold its shares on December 19, 2023 to Olmar Finland. The purchase price is not published.

Operating primarily in the Ports of Hamina-Kotka and industrial plants in the area, RP Logistics Oy and its subsidiaries form a significant player in their field. The company has extensive material handling equipment, warehouses and outdoor storage facilities, as well as a professional and committed staff of over 100 employees. The group’s turnover was almost EUR 20M last year.

The company plays a key role as a service provider for forest industry products in the region, such as lumber and pulp/paper producers.

Olmar is committed to promoting a sustainable circular economy and reducing the use of petroleum-based plastics. This acquisition is in line with Olmar’s commitment.

Olmar maintains and improves the services offered to RP Group’s customers, while prioritizing the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions from port operations.

RP Logistics founder Petri Lempiäinen will continue as an advisor, while Olmar Finland’s CEO Timo Lehtinen will take over management responsibility for RP Group’s operations and its employees, in addition to the current operations in Pori, in Mäntyluodo and Tahkoluoto. Olmar focuses on investing in strategic port infrastructure, which needs more sustainable processes and investments in digitalization and automation.

Petri Lempiäinen tells about the background of the acquisition. “I have managed RP Group for about a quarter of a century and have been able to work with an incredibly skilled and committed team. This is evidenced by the fact that RP Group has been successful in its field year after year. It’s often not easy for an entrepreneur to give up, but Olmar shares the same responsible values with me, and that’s why it was possible to make the deal. The company gets a good new principal owner. My own work continues in the role of Olmar’s advisor and e.g. as chairman of the board of Fenniarail, part-owned by our family company”.
